Food Hub + Produce Stand

 What We Do.

Farm Cart Organics is the premier food hub for high-quality local food in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Since 2014, we’ve built strong relationships with more than two dozen local farmers, helping connect their harvests to the community. While we began with farm box deliveries, today our work has expanded to include partnerships with 13 school districts, providing fresh, local produce as their designated food partner. We are also proud to collaborate with the Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles Food Banks, ensuring healthy food reaches those who need it most. In between serving schools and institutions, we supply restaurants throughout the region with the same local produce, strengthening the food system from farm to table.

At Farm Cart Organics, we take our role seriously by connecting buyers directly with the farmers who grow their food. We proudly share their stories and create opportunities for education about our food system through marketing materials, speaking engagements, pop-up events, farm tours, and more. Our customers value not only the quality of our produce but also the connection and transparency behind it. We are more than a distributor—we are a partner. Together with our farmers and buyers, we are making a meaningful difference in building a stronger, healthier local food system.

The history of the little wagon

1998 > 2025

The roots of Farm Cart Organics run deep. From 1998 to 2005, co-founder Katie Lesh’s parents operated a farm stand at 5103, selling produce exclusively grown by her father, Tom Shepherd, with the support of her mother and grandmother, Maxine. That same wagon and stand became a local staple, built on family, farming, and community.

Today, the tradition continues as the stand has grown into a hub for more than 30 local growers. We’re proud to carry this legacy forward—offering not only seasonal produce, but also fresh-baked bread, vibrant flowers, and of course, plenty of delicious fruits and vegetables for our community to enjoy.
