Local Fish.

I don’t want to preach to the choir here, because I know that you all are here with us because you understand the food system and the ways in which the food system is really a mess on this planet right now.
And because you are here, I’m sure you have fallen down the rabbit hole deep enough to recognize that one of the grossest problems in agriculture right now is the way that animals are harvested, fed, and treated in the current system.

In the past, as a family and as a business we have chosen to engage in this as little as possible, and honestly have sought to avoid the whole issue, but that is starting to change. Because we do want to eat animals. Not all of the time, truthfully not even that often, but we would be lying if we said they were not a part of our diet. And just as we want to eat the best, cleanest fruits and vegetables, we want to eat animals that were treated kindly, that were fed clean foods, and that were killed with respect.

And that is where our local fisherman come into play. Because just like how we live in the middle of one of the best farming areas on the planet, we also live just ashore from one of the healthiest, most sustainably fished environments on the planet.

Our local Channel Islands have been regulated and nurtured extensively since the 70’s. Our fisherman are no longer bottom trawling, and are select fishing in an ethical way.

We are very proud to re-start our fish offerings this week, and will continue to dive into the local fishing practices in the same way that we dive into farming practices. So we’ve partnered with Santa Barbara Fish Market and will offer local fish caught inside the channel. The selection will change each week depending on their catch but we are stoked to be added to our selection.

We are doing a giveaway with Santa Barbara Fish Market this week and giving away an awesome package. Stay tuned and follow along on our instagram to be a part of it.
