Welcome to our old small farm.

This is the small farm we had back in 2014. Right before we had our first child and right before California was declared as being in a drought, which was ultimately the reason that pushed us off this land. After taking a five year break we have slowly started to break the ground again and build a ‘home farm’ for our kids to play, grow and learn new farming techniques through trial and error.

But by no means are we big scale organic farmers. We are not even supplying anything for our farm boxes! We leave that up to the big dogs at Frecker Farms, Givens, Sunrise, Earthrine and Shepherd Farms. But we are passionate about no till, composting, using live stock and animals to clear the field and doing things correctly. Jason is big on no or little till. He’s tilled the land to prep it for summer crops but moving forward he hopes to till the land less and less. We use animals to help clear the land and maintain good soil health. We just built three mobile chicken coops to house our 100 hens. It’s been RAD watching them adjust to their new environment, grazing our leftover radish field and eating our extra food waste at the end of the week. We are working on our ever growing compost pile, learning new techniques for it and will use the healthy soil as a fertilizer when it’s ready. We are excited to launch (hopefully soon) a home food scrap to compost program where we can take people’s food scraps from their kitchen and compost it. Because any food not going into the landfill is ideal!

We are currently growing kale, broccolini, napa cabbage, bok choi, and lettuces. Next week we’ll be harvesting some kale and napa cabbage for our farm stand and add ons! I am personally so excited to try to make my own kimchi!

Although our farm is small and mighty and we aren’t exactly true farmers, we are hoping one day we can farm our own 20-50 areas. That is the vision! For now it will act our learning ground, farm school and we will grow for our farm stand, add ons, and soon to be restaurant!
